Brand Tanzania Initiative

A national movement dedicated to strengthening Tanzania’s global image, patriotism, innovation and economic competitiveness.

BTI Background

BTI began from efforts led by Hon. Jakaya Kikwete to restore Tanzania’s image and promote tourism, addressing issues like corruption, drug abuse, and poor international reputation.

BTI Initial Team

The first BTI team, led by Prof Pius Egnald Mihanjo, developed national branding messages and strategies between 2012 and 2014.

National Branding Strategy

The National Branding Strategy was created as a toolkit to promote patriotism, economic progress, and Tanzania’s global recognition.

Strategy Implementation

Implementation under President Magufuli focused on fighting corruption, drug abuse, inefficiency, and rebuilding Tanzania’s respectability and patriotism.

Strategy Review

The strategy was reviewed in 2017 and again in 2021 to include regional branding teams, making BTI inclusive and nationwide.

Regional Branding Teams

BTI established regional teams to create branding strategies tailored to each Tanzania region.

BTI Vision

BTI’s vision is to propel Tanzania to global acclaim, fostering good governance, patriotism, and national security.

BTI Mission

BTI’s mission focuses on empowering Tanzania through strategic branding, nation-building, and holistic development.

BTI Objectives

Objectives include building Tanzania’s image, promoting patriotism, enhancing competitiveness, and facilitating regional branding.

Future Strategy

BTI continues to monitor, review, and implement national and regional strategies to maintain Tanzania’s respectability, growth, and patriotism.
